ABYANGAM MASSAGE for Vata Pitta and Kapha

Abhyangam massage is an Ayurvedic technique that involves massaging warm oil into the body. The word “abhyanga” comes from the Sanskrit language and means “oil massage”.

During an abhyanga massage, warm oil is applied to the entire body, including the scalp and hair. The oil is typically a blend of various herbs and essential oils, which are chosen based on the individual’s dosha type in Ayurveda. The massage therapist uses long strokes and circular motions to apply the oil, which helps to improve circulation, nourish the skin, and calm the mind.

Marma therapy is often used as a complementary therapy to other Ayurvedic treatments and can be used to treat a variety of physical and emotional conditions. Marma points are specific energy points on the body in Ayurveda, similar to acupressure points in traditional Chinese medicine. The word “marma” comes from Sanskrit and means “hidden” or “secret”. There are a total of 107 marma points in the body, which are located at the junctions where bones, muscles, tendons, and joints come together. Marma points are believed to be the sites where the life force energy, or prana, is concentrated, and can be used to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.

Abhyanga massage is often used as a form of self-care and relaxation in Ayurveda. It is believed to help balance the doshas, or energies, in the body, and can be particularly helpful for those with Vata dosha imbalances, such as anxiety, stress, and insomnia.

Do you want to learn more about the Dosha?

In Ayurveda, dosha refers to the three energies or bio-energetic forces that are believed to govern the human body and mind. The three doshas are called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, and each one is made up of a combination of the five elements: ether, air, fire, water, and earth.

Vata is made up of ether and air, and it is responsible for movement and communication in the body. It governs functions like breathing, circulation, and nervous system activity. When Vata is out of balance, it can lead to issues like anxiety, constipation, and dry skin.

Pitta is made up of fire and water, and it is responsible for metabolism and transformation in the body. It governs functions like digestion, absorption, and body temperature. When Pitta is out of balance, it can lead to issues like inflammation, acid reflux, and skin rashes.

Kapha is made up of water and earth, and it is responsible for structure and lubrication in the body. It governs functions like immunity, strength, and growth. When Kapha is out of balance, it can lead to issues like weight gain, congestion, and sluggishness.

Each person has a unique combination of the three doshas, which is determined by factors like their genetics, diet, lifestyle, and environment. Understanding one’s dosha type is believed to be helpful in choosing a personalized approach to diet, exercise, and self-care that supports overall health and balance.

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage

Ayurvedic yoga treatment is useful to keep the body and mind in balance and harmony. It is a combination of passive yoga-like stretching and deep massage, with anti-stress and regenerating effects. Ayurvedic yoga massage is different from many western forms of massage, in that it takes place on a mattress on the floor and has a more interactive and deep connection with the therapist, synchronizing one’s breathing and allowing a better flow of energy. The characteristics of this method are the deep and vigorous touches, which use the hands and feet of traditional Ayurvedic massage, with the stretching and traction sequences coming from the asana used in the physical practice of yoga and the stimulation of the vital organs. In some moments the therapist uses maneuvers with his own feet for a gentle walk on the back and legs. Calamus powder (Indian medicinal plant) with a soft peeling effect, combined with sesame oil is used to give the body reoxygenation, greater flexibility and new vital energy. The toxins will be eliminated and the mind relaxed.

Ayurvedic Pindasweda Massage

Pindasweda massage is one of the main Ayurvedic treatments.
The main effects derived from this treatment are the relaxation of the body and mind, the draining and stimulating effect of the tissues, in order to dissolve excess fats and eliminate toxins, and also the rejuvenation of the skin.
The term Pindasweda literally means “helping the body to sweat”.
This very pleasant practice consists in a massage of tapping and touches with the use of small very hot bags containing medicinal herbs, in order to spread the effects of the heat treatment.
These special bags, called avatara or boluses, are small cotton bundles filled with natural spices, fragrant herbs, rice and essential oils. After being heated, they are applied to the body and face, mainly on the meridians and acupuncture points.
It may also be useful, based on the physiological principles of lymphatic drainage, to carry out a preparatory pumping of the main lymph node stations.
With the increase of Pitta and Agni digestion is strengthened, metabolism is activated, arthritis is improved, and laziness and excessive sleep are eliminated.
At the end of the massage the client will remain up to 10 minutes in complete rest to benefit from the treatment received.
